3G iPhone May be on the Way

According to a BGR source, there are exciting rumors from Asia on a possible iPhone update. The rumor goes that Apple have made arrangements for a new round of iPhone production. Why is this important? Well, these newly ordered handsets may be equipped with 3G network compatibility.

One of the biggest criticisms of the iPhone is the lack of high-speed 3G/HSDPA support. The public has been clamoring for the high-end device to have this update. Well, Apple may be granting this request soon because the order was reportedly for a hefty 10 million units. If this number is accurate, then it may be true that it is connected to Apple’s next-generation handset.

Another factor that makes this rumor plausible, is the information that the 3G iPhone is indeed due out this year. If Apple ordered such a large quantity then, it may not be for the current model but the updated version.

There are also rumors that OLED displays will be featured on Apple’s upcoming revamp. However, the sources say that this rumor is not very solid. Nevertheless, the upcoming handsets could be thinner than the current model if it's true that OLED technology will be used. The decreased power consumption of OLED displays would also increase the battery life of the updated device. Since 3G components can be quite a drain on battery life, using OLED technology makes good sense.

I really think that these rumors are promising. The iPhone is already on of the hottest handsets on that business. A 3G model would increase its popularity even more. At this time, perhaps it would not be wise to purchase the old model. If the 3G model comes out, spending money on the old model would seem like a bad idea.
